Helpful Tax Season Apps to Get You Organized

Income tax day is just one week away and the clock is ticking to get returns in to Uncle Sam! Whether you have already filed or haven’t even started your preparation, mobile apps can be a great way to get organized for all of you out there with on-the-go lifestyles. The following are some useful apps that can assist in getting your return all squared away for April 17th and make tax time even easier next year.

 

TurboTax SnapTax

If you file with the simple 1040-EZ, you can use this app and do your taxes directly from your iPhone! Simply take a photo of your W-2, answer the questions and hit the button to zip your return to the IRS.

Cost: Free – except the actual filing of your return costs $24.99.

H&R Block Mobile

This app allows you to check your Federal return status, to create checklists for doing your taxes, and estimate your refund. Also includes a “Help Center” and if you get really stuck, it will locate the closest H&R Block. File with a 1040EZ? Use H&R Block at Home 1040EZ Tax to file for free.

Receipts Pro

This app is for use year-round. It helps you keeps track of all your business expenses in real time so you’re not scrambling to get them together come tax time. You can actually take photos of your receipts so you can organize them. Graphs help keep track of spending and a reporting feature that will print up a detailed list of expenses.

IRS2Go

The IRS recently developed its own app! This one allows you to check refund status and shares how to get in contact with the IRS, and you can also follow the IRS Twitter feed from it. There is no access to tax code or forms, but being able to check refund status and easily connect with the IRS is pretty great. We’ve come a long way.
